Its crazy how time flies but October is almost upon
us, and you know what that means—National Delta
Epsilon Chi Week 2009! This year DEX week is October
11-17. The purpose of Delta Epsilon Chi Week is to
promote WMMA/DEX on the local, state and national
level. You can also use this week to promote your
chapter, as well as your campus’ business and
marketing departments. Not only will this Delta
Epsilon Chi Week be a fun way to interact with
students and community members, it’s also a GREAT way
to keep recruiting new members! Here are a few tips
to make your Delta Epsilon Chi Week a success:
First, create a committee within your chapter that will establish goals for the week, and plan activities around those. The committee should be able to motivate current members to help and participate in the planned activities. They should also create a time line of events that includes the number of members involved, the location, materials needed, etc. When the committee meets, they should be asking the following questions:
-How many new members would we like to recruit during Delta Epsilon Chi Week?
-How many current members will be available to participate and help with the activities we plan?
-When and where will these events take place?
-How will we incorporate the 4 points of the DECA diamond (Leadership Development, Civic Consciousness, Vocational Understanding, and Social Intelligence) into our Delta Epsilon Chi Week activities?
-What materials/resources will we need? Where will we get the funds for these materials/resources? Will we find donations?
After your committee establishes their goals, and activities they want planned, they also need to decide how they’re going to promote Delta Epsilon Chi Week on campus, and throughout the community.
Using flyers, brochures, press releases, interviews and more will help create a greater sense of awareness of your chapter throughout your city and state.
Finally, here’s a list of 10 activities your chapter can put together for Delta Epsilon Chi Week 2009. Hopefully this will get you thinking about how many things are possible for you, and your chapter: Click Below For More Info
